Calliope Unbound is a weekly creative challenge combining photography and poetry. Every Monday morning, I will open a new post. To participate, simply post an original photograph(s) accompanied by an original poem on your blog, then place a link to your submission in a comment to the weekly post. You can add your link anytime during the week. DO NOT leave a link to your entire blog–leave a link to the exact post you are submitting! This will prevent people from having to search through posts to find your Calliope poem. I will also accept an original photograph accompanied by someone else’s poem, and vice versa. However, I believe you will get more out of the challenge if both elements are your own. It has also been my experience that it is more challenging to let the photograph inspire your poetry, rather than to write a poem and then take a photograph that fits it. If you do use someone else’s work, try to get permission, or at least credit your source. If you don’t know who the poet or photographer is, then please state in your post that you are not the creator of the poem or photo so that plagiarism is avoided.
At this time, I will not be posting a weekly theme as part of the challenge. However, if you would like this to be part of Calliope Unbound, let me know. If enough people ask for it, I will do it.
For a few examples, browse through old posts–or, since Calliope Unbound has just started and doesn’t have much of a backlog yet, you can take a look at my January 08 poems: Ice Angel, Lights, The Beautiful Decay, Smoke over Water, and The Witching Hour.
